Today’s guest is Jim “Bubba” Bay. Jim has been a lifelong resident of upstate New York. And on the night of November 15, 2009 while walking on a dark road in Pine Plains, New York, he stepped backward out of the path of an oncoming truck – and plummeted 14 feet down a rocky gully, breaking 23 bones, including 11 ribs, 10 vertebrae, his skull and his left scapula.

Prior to his accident, Jim had spent 25 years working hard for two family-owned businesses in Pine Plains – a popular landscaping company and Two Bay’s Service Station. Dedicated to bringing out the best in others, Bay also enjoyed serving as a sports coach at his local high school.

Jim is the proud father of five children, including two sons who are now in Heaven, and his favorite activity, when not hard at work or spending time with his family, is metal detecting – and he says he’s made some pretty awesome finds!
