Finding your voice through the practice of yoga.

Today’s guest is Elsie Escobar. Elsie was born in El Salvador and moved to the US with her family when she was 9 years old. As a child,  she loved all types of physical activities and would push herself as hard as she could; however she left athletics behind when she went to college and studied theater.

After getting her undergraduate degree, she was accepted to the National Theater Conservatory in Denver, and spent 3 years there, where she began to live an empowered life. It was there that Elsie started to find her real voice. She also found strength in her body again, as she was introduced to yoga. It helped to both soften and center her while providing her with the tools that she needed to focus.

After graduating from the National Theater Conservatory, Eslie pursued a career as a Hollywood actress, for a while before making her way back to Yoga. Her first ‘teacher’ Naime Jezzeny, introduced her to Anusara Yoga, which is the yoga that she continues to study and teach today.

And, adding a unique touch to her yoga stylings, Elsie also hosts a series of yoga podcasts, Elsie’s Yoga Class: Live and Unplugged.

You can find her at www.ElsieEscobar.com.

In today's episode, your host, Michael Neeley, talks about the differences between being attached to an outcome or result versus being committed to it.

The distinction between the two can be subtle while producing vastly different experiences. When one becomes familiar with this distinction and then makes a conscious choice, the freedom therein can be expansive.

Please join in on the conversation by leaving comments on our Facebook page or on the website under this episode.

Today’s guest is Becky Kanis Margiotta. Becky, with her friend Joe McCannon, founded The Billions Institute to answer one question: how do we unleash a billion people to solve the world’s biggest problems in the next 50 years?

Prior to this venture, Becky led the 100,000 Homes Campaign for Community Solutions. Featured on 60 Minutes, the Campaign was a nationwide large-scale change effort to find and house 100,000 of the most long-term and medically vulnerable homeless people in America by July 2014.

And as if that weren’t enough, before that, Becky commanded two Special Operations companies in the US Army. She graduated from West Point and holds a Masters Degree from The New School. She was recognized by the White House as a Champion of Change in 2013 and by the Schwab Foundation as a Social Entrepreneur of the Year in 2015.

Today’s guest is Discovery Coach, Nancy Stubbs. Nancy brings a very interesting aspect to the mix of our guests here on Consciously Speaking as she blends her 12 years of experience in human resources with another 12 years of her Big Leap Discovery Coaching.

In combination, she utilizes an assessment tool that helps point to and, in a way, quantify, a person’s genius! This tool helps identify their innate talents — their striving instincts — how they take action when they’re free to be themselves.

Nancy combines this assessment tool with several others in the Kolbe suite of products to help hiring leaders build their teams based upon conative instincts. This allows her to help individual clients who are curious about discovering, validating, and using their talents in a conscious, deliberate way that will bring them a greater sense of alignment and happiness with their chosen vocation.

Today’s guest is Marty Klein. Born in Brooklyn, NY in 1948, Marty grew up with his heart set on being a weatherman. He eventually realized that dream during his time in the U.S. Air Force but found it shattered when he lost his eyesight in 1974. What started as the biggest challenge of his life turned out to be a blessing in disguise.

Marty eventually landed in Woodstock, NY, where he found his identity as a man, a loving partner, a caring stepfather, and a good friend while working for Family of Woodstock, a crisis intervention center.

Having come to a place of grounding and clarity about his journey, he wrote his first book, a memoir, Blindsighted, One Man’s Journey from Sight to Insight.

He went on to pen two more books, Emotional Cleansing, The Spiritual Journey Toward a Clear Heart, and The Enlightened Gambler, The Heart and Spirit of the Risk Taker in All of Us, published in 2013.

Being blind has never slowed him down as he also co-founded Namaste Yoga Center, realizing that everything happens on a mat, and co-produced a 5CD instructional set called “Beginning Yoga for the Blind and Visually impaired”.

Marty participated in a spiritual workshop with Ram Dass, and the sound of the harmonium that Krishna Das played that night so touched his heart that he has been chanting and leading Kirtan with his harmonium ever since.

Marty can be found at www.blindyoga.net

In today's guided meditation, Michael Neeley will lead you through a practice of inviting healing energy into your body. Opening yourself up to your life force, or prana, is a terrific way to allow your body to do what it already knows how to do - heal itself.

This meditation is very short and can be repeated many times throughout the day to revitalize yourself.

May you be well. May you be happy. May you be free from suffering. May you be at peace.

Namaste.

Today’s guest is Denny Krahe, also known as Diz. Denny currently lives in Lakeland, FL, though he’s a Michigander at heart. He’s got an awesome wife, a new baby girl, and two dogs that keep him running almost as much as his business DK FitSolutions, which provides personal training instruction to clients in their home or other convenient locations.

But Denny’s personal passion is running and turning his website into his living.

Even with all of the well-established and popular running blogs, Diz is not letting that hold him back from the pursuit of his dream. Just like any well-skilled navigator or savvy CEO, he knew it was time to pivot and adjust his course.

Therein lies the birth of the Diz Runs With Podcast. Not unlike myself, he has fallen in love with the process and is putting nothing less than his whole heart into it.

The “Diz Runs With…” show launched in July, featuring unique episodes, as Denny and a guest talk about running, life, and everything in between.

You can find him at www.dizruns.com.
