Today’s guest is Ginny Wright. Ginny went from being a Canadian to a Virginian in 2002 with no idea what her next professional step would be, after an early career in retail. At a friend’s suggestion, she decided to apply her love of exercise to an actual career in fitness.

So, being a true example that we should do what we love and the job and success will follow, Ginny attended a personal training seminar in DC, where she was recruited on the spot by a local outdoor fitness company.

Within a year, she had started BodybyGinny, a boot-camp style of classes held in parks and other locations. Always meeting outside regardless of the weather, Ginny designs new workouts every time, and clients who have been with her for 12 years say they have never had the same class twice!

Ginny became certified as a health coach at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in 2009 and started using those tools to help herself and her clients lead healthier lives. She became interested and started reading a lot about Buddhism and mindfulness 5 years ago, and now enjoys educating her clients about that, as well.

You can check out more about Ginny and her new Total Wellness Challenge (TWC) at www.TWCFit.com.

It’s Thanksgiving today, and I want to take a moment to join you in gratitude in this special holiday episode. I'll also take some time to let you know about the launch of Season 2, but for now...

What are you thankful for?

If you’ve been listening to my show for a while now, you know that I’m a big advocate of letting go of your stories – the fiction part at least; the part you make up about the real facts of what happens. And you’ll also know that the best way to do that is to stay awake and not go into auto-pilot mode.

Being thankful is one great way to flip that switch and become fully present to what is. Anytime we pause to give thanks, if we’re truly looking at what we are thankful for, we have no choice but to heighten our awareness.

So, what are you thankful for today? Really Thankful for?

Today’s episode is brought to you by American Ruckus, a New Digital Series that tells stories focusing on the real heartbeat of America, highlighting the accomplishments and struggles of American entrepreneurs, businesses and manufacturers. In today’s episode, I will share a series of brief interviews conducted at the Museum of Art & History right here in Santa Cruz, CA. I was invited to introduce the art of podcasting as part of their Radical Craft Night. This is a really awesome event that the MAH puts on every year, where you can learn about everything from button-making and taxidermy, to metal forging and silk-screening, and so much more. It’s radical.

And it’s all part of the third-Friday series that the MAH features on an ongoing basis. So, if you’re local to Santa Cruz, or just stopping through, be sure to check out the MAH (The Santa Cruz Museum of Art & History) anytime, but especially on the third Friday of every month when things really get rocking.

A quick side-note: this show was recorded with a massive and varying degree of background noise. Some of the guests are easier to hear than others, and I’ve done quite a bit of editing to try to make it work. My apologies to those people I interviewed but was unable to use in the show for some reason or another, which was likely due to background noise.

Today's guided meditation was inspired by Elizabeth Gilbert's talk in Santa Cruz, CA, as she is touring to promote her new book, Big Magic. The book is both inspirational and motivational, and is sure to ignite your creative juices. In this sit led by your host, Michael Neeley, the intention is to apply similar meditation practices to the removal of your creative blocks and fears.

No matter what the area of your creativity, this practice is designed to open you up to your natural flow, allowing what wants to come forth from you the freedom to do so, unencumbered.

Please provide feedback below, or post your comments on Consciously Speaking's Facebook page.

Today’s guest is Gay Dillingham. Gay has consistently juggled her parallel passions for the environment, public policy and communication through film all in an effort to deepen our human experience and success while on this marvelous planet.

She was born in 1965 to a ranching, entrepreneurial family in Oklahoma, lived mostly under the open skies of the West including Santa Fe New Mexico for the past 26 years.

Gay started making documentary films out of college in the late 80s. Her first, The WIPP Trail, narrated by Robert Redford, cast a critical eye at our nation's first and still world's only underground nuclear waste repository.

She later co-founded and managed two environmental technology companies: Earthstone International and Growstone. She served eight years on the EIB, a regulatory board in charge of environmental management and consumer protection for the State of New Mexico. Under her tenure the EIB spear-headed the passage of the most comprehensive regulations on greenhouse gases in the country.

Today, she is again concentrating her passion to inform and enlighten through her film company CNS Communications, LLC. Her new film, Dying to Know has been a labor of love she has cultivated on and off for 18 years; footage so compelling, it was haunting her to finish. She is grateful to be back to her life's passion making films & telling meaningful stories.

You can find out more about Gay and this wonderful film at www.DyingToKnowMovie.com.

This episode of Consciously Speaking’s guided meditation series will be led by your host, Michael Neeley, as he takes you on a journey to expand your awareness, your space, and your consciousness.

“A human being is a part of the whole, called by us Universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest – a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole nature in its beauty.” ~ Albert Einstein

Enjoy!

This episode of Consciously Speaking’s guided meditation series is focused on the practice of "tonglen", and will be guided by your host, Michael Neeley.

Tonglen is Tibetan for "giving and taking" or "sending and receiving". It is, at its roots, the practice of taking in pain and suffering and sending out peace and healing. You can use this practice on yourself or for the benefit of another person or animal, a group of people, or even the planet. That’s up to you.

In this practice, you visualize taking on the suffering of others with your in-breath, and spreading happiness and peace on your out-breath. You may select an individual in need, an animal, yourself, a group of people or even the planet as the beneficiary of your practice.

Enjoy!
